Samsung refrigerator repairs

Samsung makes some fantastic products beyond just the newest craze in SmartPhones with the Galaxy S4 – if you didn’t know it, you can also get great refrigerators by Samsung too. Nonetheless, even great equipment needs servicing at times, and the need for a Samsung refrigerator repair is not out of the question.  Today we’re going to look at a problem that we see often, and just recently had a service call from a Tucson customer who was having problems with her Samsung refrigerator – it seemed that she was getting a sheet of ice on the floor of the freezer compartment all of a sudden.

In this particular instance, we were dealing with a customer’s Samsung fridge, but the problem isn’t unique to any brand.  It’s actually something that we see fairly frequently, and more often than not, if it’s not something that you can take care of yourself (using the information we’re about to provide for you), it IS something that our technicians can sort out for you, no problem.

In a nutshell, the problem may be due to your defrost drain being plugged up. Normally, when your fridge’s defrost cycle runs, the water that’s melted off should run down to the drip pan that’s located under your fridge, via the defrost drain.  When that drain is plugged, whether it be from food stuff, packaging or what-not, and if you have a top-freezer model, you might even end up finding water dripping into your refrigerator compartment.  The stuff that’s left within the freezer compartment is going to turn into a sheet of ice.

In order to check your defrost drain, you’re going to need to get rid of that ice.  What you DON’T want to do – EVER! – is use an ice pick, knife or anything else sharp to chip away at the ice.  If you do that you’ll run the risk of puncturing the closed system, and then you’ll have a much more serious (and much more expensive) repair to deal with.  Instead, use warm water and a turkey baster to slowly melt off the ice in the freezer area.

One thing to note – make sure you unplug your refrigerator before starting this process!  You don’t want it working overtime trying to cool things down while you have to door open and you’re pouring warm water into it.

For a bit more detailed information on this process, we’ve included the video below.  But remember, we are never more than a phone call away if you need our help with your refrigerator repair, Samsung brand or otherwise.  Just call (305) 748-4223 to get the Best Appliance Repair of Miami to send out one of the Best Refrigerator Repair technicians to help you out.
